<title>MySQL Madness? INT(SIZE) what is it good for? Absolutely Nothin&apos;</title>
				<link>http://www.escapekeys.com/blog/2010/6/2/MySQL-Madness-INTSIZE-what-is-it-good-for-Absolutely-Nothin</link>

Close to nothing, at least from what I have been able to find.

The MySQL docs don&apos;t say much to persuade me otherwise. I found a great post &lt;a href=&quot;http://alexander.kirk.at/2007/08/24/what-does-size-in-intsize-of-mysql-mean/&quot;&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.

It claims the only purpose for the SIZE on an INT field is to determine how many ZEROs to pad with when using ZEROFILL.

So I ask, does anyone know if this is it? Is there more to it?

I can&apos;t believe I didn&apos;t run into this earlier.
I&apos;ve never been a big fan of MySQL, for other reasons. But it seems to be pretty popular. Has to be more to it than just being FREE.
